Hey scotty. i got a volvo XC70 2008 and recentley got a code for a Barometric pressure sensor issue that keeps turning on the check engine light. we replaced the Map sensor with a new one and the light still comes back and the scanner reads the same fault. whats next?
recentley got a code for a Barometric pressure sensor
What is it? You need to read instructions carefully. Please provide the full code and description.
we replaced the Map sensor
why?
the MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor measure pressure inside the engine.
the light still comes back
Of course it does.
The barometric pressure sensor measures ambient atmospheric pressure outside your car. Completely different part.
As @mmj rightly pointed out, the barometric pressure sensor measures ambient pressure and is used in some fuel injection systems to help regulate the air/fuel ration based on altitude, among other things.
So could it be the MAF sensor?
No. MAF sensor measures air flow (MAF=Mass Air Flow), not pressure.
You still haven't told us what the code you got. What is the full fault code?
Ok. so the codes are P2227 and P0105.
And there arent any symptoms at all. the car runs like always. just the check engine light is on.
Well make sure you used an OEM factory sensor first. But if it's not that then either the wiring has gone bad or the computer module itself has gone bad. Realize it's going to take a pro to figure that one out if it's not just a bad aftermarket sensor
Well the sensor i got is the right one - just not the orignal made in japan for volvo. the one i orderd is from china. so i guess ill start over and first get the OEM and move on from there.
Check the wiring
AND what’s the ECU actually reading (live data) when it’s connected and running vs disconnected and running.
