these 2 i tested and both prove very good option and good night recording and easy to capture license plate on those cars

I'm looking to buy a dash cam as a Christmas gift somewhere in the under $150 range. whats the best bang for my buck?  

If you are looking for top of the line quality and can change your price range I would definitely recommend Blackvue brand. They make front only, front and rear, interior, etc. dash cams. Just make sure you purchase it from one of their authorized retailers and not Amazon.
