Dependability F250 vs Tundra for towing

Hi Scotty, love your videos.. I need to buy a truck to tow with. I will be towing anywhere between 4k and 10k pounds. The heaviest weight would be from a travel trailer so it’s not just weight but the wind resistance. I settled on a new Ford F250 diesel, but then started reading about all the quality issues they have. I don’t want to spend 80k and then keep fixing it. I am thinking maybe a new Toyota Tundra would be more dependable but this would be close to its limit. I keep my cars a very long time, 15+ years and 200+k miles. Which would you recommend and why??

Welcome new member.

If you are going to tow 10,000 lb regularly (more tow miles than not towing), then a heavy duty truck will hold up better.  Not only will the engine take it better, but suspension, brakes, etc are beefier.

But if it is mainly weekends or vacations, or if it’s mostly closer to 4000 lb a lot of the time, it’s had to imagine the Ford getting you to 200k cheaper than a Tundra (especially if you get a previous gen V8 Tundra).

Take a look in the search bar for more on Tundras and HD pickups.

Good luck!
