Hello Scotty I took your advice and got a Toyota I have a 95 Lexus ES300 and it has dexron 2 that is a gold color I want to replace it with the same or equivalent they say to put dexron 6 but I don't think that's a good idea of mixing the two different ones do you know where I could get the yellow one or is there a problem in using different transmission fluids dextron six for example and being a different color??  Also my power steering fluid is dextron 2. And my cooling fans run off power steering..  you never said anything about that..  thanks for all your good info

Dexron 6 is backwards compatible. No problem using it.

Dexron 6 is superior to all previous iterations

I've been using Dex/Merc (Dexron III) in my Dexron II applications for ages now and it's worked fine.
