Hello Scotty, I was wondering if you could tell me what is the best scan tool for around 2,000 dollars?  Thank you.

For that, I strongly recommend the Autel Maxisys MS906BT - which also has bidirectional control.  It costs $1200-$1600 and are tools Scotty Kilmer and Car Wizard use.  For its price point and what it can do, nothing else matches it.

If you do buy an expensive scan tool like that, I strongly recommend you buy from one of the company’s authorized dealers if you care about support, service, software updates, and warranty, and to make sure you don’t get scammed (plenty of them out there!).  Some of those expensive ones from Amazon are not North American models and if you need to have it serviced you have to send to China!  And Amazon is NOT an authorized dealer for Autel.

Check for your Vehicle coverage (select MS906BT):

One place I recommend buying from AESwave:  they are an authorized Autel dealer and I bought my scanner (Autel MX808) from them.  Here, the MS906BT is $1,250 - which is a good price for that tool (usually it’s closer to $1,500+).  They are also experts and can help with technical questions for that tool (after the sale).  Try doing that with Walmart.com or some of these other authorized dealers.
