Did I make a mistake buying this Nissan?

Hey Scotty I just picked up a 2017 Nissan Rogue SV AWD last week with just under 28 thousand miles. The car idles good and exhibits no engine or transmission issues either, I plan on changing transmission fluid every 30 thousand miles as well. Do you think this will be a reliable car for me or did I make a mistake.

Here's the thing, Rogue's aren't that well made, but at the same time, there resale value is horrible. If you got a good deal on it, I would take care of it, and sell it before 60 70k miles. A Nissan usually starts to have issues in the 100k miles range if you want a whole lifetime out of it well then you did make a mistake but if you are happy with getting a few years out of it and selling it then it could be decent for the time being.

How long do you plan on keeping it? Even Nissans will go 100k or so relatively trouble free if maintained right. But if you want to go 200k - 300k miles I would say it wasn't the best choice.

  • Unfortunately you definitely made a mistake. I would have never bought it, but you already have it now. If you can get any serious money for it then unload it now. If you are going to loose your shirt by selling it now then just drive it and if something major goes then just scrap it and move on.

If you got it cheap (compared to Toyota) and you do not want to keep it forever, it might be an ok car.

Take care of it and it will last you as long as you need it to 16 rogues weren’t bad just drain and fill the cvt every 30k with proper fluid and it will last

I have a Nissan too (2011 Sentra) and learned that I have unreliable Jatco CVT transmission. My transmission has been making a whiny noise for the past 20k miles. I’m now at 146k miles and still going. Don’t drive your Nissan hard and change the transmission fluid every 30k like others have said, change oil every 5k with a full synthetic oil, and maybe you get well over 100k miles. Good luck
