My husband wants to get a diesel truck soon. We were looking at F-250’s but I’m curious to what other companies make a good diesel trucks.
The best diesel engine out there is Cummins: 5.9 and 6.7. Those engines are put in the Dodge Ram pickups.
Here's the thing about diesel engines. They are highly computerized today. Before buying any used diesel truck, have a mechanic with a high end scan tool and who knows how to work on diesel trucks look it over.
I really would look into a Duramax diesel as well. I have plenty of friends who’ve had them 15 years+ and I have friends who have had brand new ones who love them. I would also say that they seem to blow less smoke than the powerstrokes do over time. I would just say that Cummins is best out of the big 3. And in that case I would also look at the Nissan Titan Cummins diesel as I have a friend with that and he is very happy with it.
