2012 grand Cherokee 96k miles never changed the differential fluid do you think I should change it or leave it? No problems with the differential
Can only help for longer life. All oils break down after lots of miles. I change mine every 40k
I changed the rear differential fluid for the first time in my 2002 Mustang at 70,000 miles and my 2014 Xterra front and rear differentials at 49,000. Some people change theirs at 30,000 mile intervals - which is what I'm planning to do from now on. It probably would be a good idea to change yours.
Absolutely change it now. It;s not that hard to do. Make sure you use the recommended weight and type of gear oil for this vehicle. Your differential will thank you.
P>S> Make sure you remove the filler plug first, then the drain plug.
That's always a good idea to make sure that the fill plug can be removed FIRST. You wouldn't want to drain the fluid and then find that you can't remove the fill plug.
