Do you recomend cleaning a distributor before buying a new one for 99 chevy silverado or should i just buy a new one period?

Here is my humble advice.
I would not buy a new car now.. electric car are coming out and look like the future.
Therefore car company are not really investing in technology petroleum based car.
With all the electronic and pollution control put on the modern car it just make it harder and more expensive to fix.
Older cars where simply to fix and if had some knowledge you could work it out.
So you have decided if something goes wrong can you fix or willing to pay someone to fix in your older car vs it fixed on warranty ....
This my personal view.
