I have a 1986 GMC 3500 with the 454 Big Block. It originally had a Quadrajet carburetor that's crapped out on me now. I'm not looking for crazy performance or fuel economy, I just want something that works. I have never bought a universal carburetor (like holley and edelbrock). I've always tried to use the OEM stuff, but I'm sick of this quadrajet giving me trouble. I have my eyes on an Edelbrock 1411, but I want to know if I can use this carburetor on my stock Quadrajet intake. Do I need to get an adapter plate for it? If so, which one? Appreciate your help.
Looks like you need an adapter kit which you can order from Edelbrock. (This video shows swapping the Quadrajet for an Edelbrock 1406 but it should be pretty much the same. The difference is the 1411 is 750 cfm, the 1406 is 600 cfm.) The adapter is Edelbrock #2696.
