Do you recommend these mini vans?

Thank you 👍

Those are known for transmission problems, particularly at higher mileage. I would look for a Sienna instead.

Thank you very much, on Sienna older model any particular mileage I should stick to

We where also looking at a 2005 Ford Expedition XLT with 145,000 would you recommend it?

Expeditions can be ok as long as you realize a lot of the bells and whistles go out as they age. Sienna vans can go a long time if they are well maintained. I would suggest finding one you like that is in your budget and having a mechanic inspect it before you buy.

I would stick to Toyota. That generation Honda Odyssey is known for its particularly weak automatic transmission and many annoyances like the door sensors failing and basically fall apart. I would look into a Toyota Sienna.

As for the Ford Expedition, the 5.4 V8 in those are notoriously bad engines. I would avoid them.

You are much better off with a Toyota Sienna or Sequoia

See below:  granted it is a small snapshot, but shows the #1 issue was related to the transmission.

Also, the EX-L trim had the 3.5L V6 engine (J35A7) which has cylinder deactivation (or what Honda calls VCM or variable cylinder management) - which can potentially wear out/damage the engine over time, and this one is high mileage already (so not clear what shape the engine is in).  Plus, this was during the first years (starting in 2005) of this new technology (VCM) being introduced so not fully sorted out;  in fact the oil burning issues due to VCM led to a class action lawsuit:   https://www.autoblog.com/2013/10/23/honda-settles-class-action-lawsuit-engines/   The LX and EX trims, on the other hand, did not have VCM (that engine was also 3.5L V6 but was the J35A6 engine).

In any event, if it were me I would be looking at a Toyota Sienna instead.

Look at the newer Odysseys if your heart is set on one. The older ones had transmission problems
