Hi everyone,  I have been shopping used RV's Campers etc to take out on extended travels. So now I'm looking at  a 1992 Dodge Camper Class B Camper Van / Motorhome. Built on a Dodge Frame. Being a Class B, its a van with RV built into it. Its 20 ft long. It has what I'd like in it. My concern is about the Engine, Trans year etc. Chrysler, Dodge have history of "quality" well known. Especially these current years. I can't buy new. And used work my budget for now . Is the 1992 Dodge 360 V8 engine and the trans for that year. It has 84,000 original miles. Would it be good for another 50,000 miles . Then I would be ok with rebuild or used engines at that point .

That 360 V8 is a member of Chrysler's very robust series of "LA" V8 engines going back to the 273 of 1964. They are known for durability and good power output. You are more likely to have problems with electronics and emissions plumbing than the engine itself, though you should have it checked out by a mechanic. If well cared for at 84K miles it likely has lots of life left in it. If abused, it could be worn out at that mileage, particularly in a motorhome which is going to load it down much more than a car or pickup.

I don't know what kind of transmission they'd have in a 20' motorhome but if it's one of Chrysler's 4-speed automatics those are trouble-prone. (The old 3-speed Torqueflites were much better). Once again, have a mechanic check it carefully for problems.

Thank you. Good info
