Hi there my friend bought a 2010 dodge avenger at the start of the summer. It has around 250000 km (155343 miles). When the car is idling the rpm of the enigne drops from around 700 down to 500 and then jumps up to around 800 rpm. When the rpm drops there is a slight rumbling feeling before it goes back to 800. There is no check engine light on in the car, any idea of what it may be?

I would check the basics for the mileage: spark plugs, air filter (make sure it is clean), and the fuel filter. All inexpensive items and all possibilities for the mileage.
