Hi love your show. You are my last hope regarding my car. It's a2007 dodge caliber I bought it in 2016 from an older gentleman. Loved it until the problems started. First was in April 2017 removed brake pads, break rotor back, rear upper control arm, rear axle toe, front struts, in June ,2017 only 149457 km on it replaced alternator belt and pulley and suspension control arm lower, ok whatever, then Feb 14,2018. Power steering return hose, suspension sub frame, steering rack and pinion, March, 2019 steering rack and pinion, power steering pump odometer 166 586 km, Jan 2020, replace steering rack and pinion,June 2021, suspension ball joint front left lower, and today took it back because of noise again, leak tiny in rack and pinion yet again.
Help me in desperate for answers why does this keep happening, I must be the only one in the world, talked to multiple mechanics, no answers, live in a small city in eastern Saskatchewan Canada, please if you have an idea thank you
It's a common story with those cars. Unfortunately the Dodge Caliber is a very poor quality vehicle and as you discovered they tend to fall apart and become money pits as they age.
Used car prices are at an all-time high so you may be able to sell it off to some outfit like Carmax at a good price and use the money to buy something more reliable like an old Toyota or Honda.
Common problem on those. My brother had a 2008 Caliber SRT-4 and one of the first things we did was swap that rack and pinion out for an upgraded one. Just a weak spot on the car, and there are others as well.
