What are the system pressures? Your expansion valve may be stuck or clogged. (Or orifice tube clogged if that's what you have.)
Is the expansion valve in the line just before it goes into the evaporator because the line is very frosty to the firewall.
I don't know where the valve is located on that vehicle but it is typically near the evaporator. It sounds though like your system may actually be cooling but the blend door may be preventing cold air from getting to the vents. (I take it the evaporator is not easily accessible to check its temperature.) Without pressure readings it's hard to say what's going on inside the AC system.
