Pay as little as possible.
The first vehicle that ever stranded me was a 1999 Dodge Ram V8. The radiator exploded (factory defect) and I had to wait for roadside. After that, well, we sold that truck and bought a different make and model.
I wouldn't call them reliable.

Knowing people who have owned those models ... The engines would usually run quite well, but transmissions were weak.
Friend had the 5.9L engine and got over 200k with no major problems. But that included plenty of highway miles.
Others lost their transmissions early, but rebuilds are not so expensive.
sounds like a decent cheap work truck?
Just don't pay too much.
ok sounds like avoid the 1999 model due to a factory defect
