What year are you looking at? Generally, I'm familiar they have electronic issues, brakes wear out fast and transmissions tend to go out. Is money still not the object?

Good luck.

@g-t
its a 1993 Dodge Grand Caravan with 162k miles

@g-t
i mean that sucks i want a toyota minivan but at the same time i love the dodge minivans look beter then the toyota style

@g-t
i wanted to hall furniture with it anyway i guess ill get a 1999 ford ranger for $2800

Well, it is up to you what you will buy. Perhaps you buy Toyota for driving and Dodge for lawn ornament.😃😉

@g-t
i just wish toyota made a van hat looked like that but whatever ill get the toyota for roadtrips and the ranger for work

@g-t
but if i change the oil every 5k miles and the cooland and transmission fluid as well as the fuel filter every 15k miles then it should work fine for a wile right? or will it still have transmission issues?

If you will buy it as a work car, you will strain it more because of load. More you strain something weak, faster it will break down.

@g-t
well what if i just used it as a pepole mover and changed fluids regularly?

@g-t
would they last then or would i have to change valve cover gaskets and power steering?

Your money, your decision, your responsibility for consequences.

@g-t
someone baught one for 400 bucks drove it to canada and back with no issues so i would say if you take careof them change all the fluids every 3 months and replace the valve cover gaskets every year they should last some time

Good luck with maintenance if you are going to buy it. And share your experience with us if you want.

@g-t
ok i think if i baby it and replace the valve cover gaskets every year + replace the power steering pump and headgasket every 5 years adn change the fluid and filters every 3 months ill get some life out of it 😀

Don't drive them. This way they can last forever. 😃

Outside of defects, most cars will last longer if you baby them.

Failing to change the engine oil, coolant and transmission fluid are the top car killers.

@carlos
so if i just change the coolant and transmission fluid and oil every 15k miles and not burn rubber constantly they can last 200k miles?

Many have. But I would think 5k max for oil changes.

They could last if you bring it to a mechanic and then you do all maintenance and drive it like a grandma. Just be kind to the transmission. The elctronics will go out so you will ahve to live with that.
