This is definitely the year of fix and repair for me. My headlights won't go on and the high beam light is on frequently. I've checked the filaments on the headlight bulbs and they're good. There's no sign of corrosion and I've checked the fuses which look fine. The only thing that I can think of is the headlight switch needs replacing. It looks as if I only need to remove that one small section of the dashboard but I'm at a loss on what to do here.
More information is needed. What engine, auto headlights or not, fog lights or not??? 4wheel drive or 2 wheel drive? Check local parts store web sites for parts. Give them the VIN to get the correct switch if that's what you need.
L4-2.5L engine, no auto headlight feature, yes it has fog lights. 4W drive. I can get the part for around $50 or schedule an appoint with Your Mechanic to come out and replace it for $200. I prefer DIY not only because it's cheaper but I love doing things like this.
I would just get the appropriate part, disconnect the battery negative cable and go for it.
I'm just waiting on the part. Opened the side panel and felt around. There are a couple of clips that hold the switch in place. I pressed down on the one closest to the steering wheel and pried it from the outside with a big slotted screwdriver and that side popped out. The other side came out easier with just a little prying with the screwdriver. No damage at all to the plastic around the switch. I saved about $150 doing it myself.
