Any advice my high school teacher that I used to have has a atlas with the turbo 4 clynder and are they junk yes or no
Not reliable.
They have garbage transmissions. It is an AISIN designed transmission that has tons of issues in the Tiguan, Jetta, and Atlas. The engines are known for not lasting. They are good designs initially but in typical German engineering, they are under enginered for basic usage as automobile. I would get rid of it honestly and get any other SUV like Toyota Honda even Mazda etc.
Aren't AISIN supposed to be good transmission? Or at least known to be good on the whole? What made this one bad?
AISIN makes good transmissions but it is not that simple. The usage could be done differently and this specific one is not used in any Toyotas. VW's have garbage transmissions. The 07 Jetta, 09 Tiguan, and a bunch of new ones all have AISIN trannys but are piles of junk. I would only consider a manual, but they are shifted so high that you have no power at all. VW is basically junk 2018+, they used to make decent engines and manual transmissions in the mid 2010s, but they can't make new products;(
Funny, I just asked about the Atlas LL8 straight 6.
