Topic starter

I tried to tell my uncle not buy a car from caravan, he should have listened.

He bought honda accord v6 2017 coupe from caravan. He got pretty good deal on it. Car had 45000miles on it and paid $12000. He got the car two years ago. Everything is running good except the title.

He got stopped by police officer for going to fast on highway. The police officer told him his car is stolen and he is driving an stolen car. He provided proof of insurance and title they he bought and owns the car.

He got his car back by going back and forth between court and police station. He tried to call carvana but they said it's been 2 years so they took there hands off. He currently suing caravan for there mistake and selling stolen car.

So please don't buy car on caravan with out checking car proper history.

Clarification: Do you mean Carvana?

I think that advice is appropriate for buying a car ANYWHERE

I would never by a CarAVAN nor would I buy a car from CarVANA. Thank you for confirming this!

Carvana isn't even so much a dealer as they are a mass flipper. They just take cars in from random sources and flip them. Aside from paperwork snafus like you experienced, you can bet a good percentage of their cars have been gotten rid of by their owners due to problems. Carvana doesn't do any kind of thorough examination, they just see that they run, give 'em a cursory cleanup, maybe throw on some cheap Chinese tires if needed, and shove them out the door. An even worse place to buy from than traditional dealerships.

... and take a cut. Don't forget that part.

Yeah, I would especially avoid these online car buying services - that also includes Vroom.

The TFL guys had an issue with Vroom not too long ago:

Well at least he got a title; many people haven't even been able to get a title from Carvana:

true. We had an asker here in the forum like that too

Out of curiosity I looked at their reviews/complaints on BBB and this appears to be a very prevalent issue with Carvana.

Caveat Emptor!

Carvana is the worst version of the stealership. I agree with everyone who said Carvana sell their cars without a close inspection. I guess your uncle is joining the Carvana caravan.

Is this from personal experience?

@itwt Not really. I assume people would agree with me with this response.

That is outrageous. Just another reason not to buy from these dealers.
