Hey Scotty,

Im due for a transmission fluid change. The dealer says they prefer to do a fluid exchange vs a drain and fill. Which is best and is an exchange the same as a flush?

Pan drop/drain and fill is different from flush. Tell them not to do a flush as it can clog up the micro holes and can damage  sensitive electronics.

I agree, although if the equipment is serviced with a clean disposable filter it would work fine. In most cases they attempt to reuse or not even use.

They say they don’t flush with the cleaner, just an exchange probably with suction. Its at 55k miles, it will be the first fluid change for it and they’d change the filter, too they said.
