Driving with the hand brake problem ?

Sometimes I forget the hand brake up and drive with it only when I arrive home to notice it has been turned up. Problem ?

Why is the car going with the brake on btw ? No peeping no warning, no noise, no smell of brakes. Is really easy to forget it.

ALWAYS provide your year/make/model and any other relevant information when asking question on our forum please. Thank you.

You need to check your dash indicator to see that the hand brake warning light is on...put on hand brake and see if it does....Also when you put the hand brake on...make it work so it does not let the car move.  thats its intended purpose.

If you can't feel it then the parking brake pad is worn out or the cable is loose. Check and repair. It can cause premature wear on the disks as well.

it is going to wear out the handbrake so you'll have to replace the brake parts sooner.

Depending on the type of braking system you have (no mention of vehicle), you could overheat things to the point that your normal brakes won't brake properly and lead to dangerous situations.

You don’t smell of brakes because it engages the rear brakes. It will ruin your brakes.

If you do not notice the drag on your car now the chances are you already have wornout the rear brakes.  Might get that checked so you can stop the way you should in emergencies.

I can't believe I forget it. But it happens. Yeah I know the dashboard flashes but the steering wheel often hides it.

It happens when I am in a rush...to find out I forgot to disengage the hand brake.

You are right, I have been feeling drag untypical. Must be due to that

I'm surprised you didn't see smoke billowing out of your wheels. The one time I forgot, that's how I knew.

Depends how fast you going. With 20 mph you might not see anything feel anything
