Hello everyone how's it going? Is it a good idea to remove the hood off a vehicle? I was driving on the freeway when I passed this dude driving a modified 2019 Subaru Impreza and I looked at the rearview mirror and happened to see he had the hood removed and then after that I thought hmmmmm.... is it even safe to drive without a hood?

It’s illegal in most places and not safe at the same time it changes the crumple points in the vehicle and reduces the amount of impact it can safely handle and just a bad idea

I wouldn't want to do it in the rain.

Understandable cause its considered a hazard

If there wasn't anything that could enter the bay it wouldn't be a big deal.  But there is so much potential for a random mishap, I wouldn't even chance it.  Heck, I would think wind would be of some concern with the mounting of some components.  Granted the engine will probably be really cool.  Maybe too cool?

of course not

Exposing your engine to the road is like riding a motorcycle without a shirt/shoes/helmet. Do you really want the most sensitive parts of your car to get pelted by road debris? Pow! There goes your belt. And what if you pop a radiator or power steering pump hose. It's hard to see with oil all over your windshield. It's an unbelievably bad idea.

In some states it is illegal to drive without a hood.

Unless you drive a junker and it is overheating and you want to get more air to drive somewhere which you should not do that anyway.

It's becoming understandable thinking about it cause its a hazard if it rains plus nothing is waterproof or water resistant

I remember when this concept came out years ago
