[Solved] Should I buy a like new car with a CVT transmission

Hey Scotty, my girlfriend and I's 2007 Dodge Caliber has been officially declared dead due to its CVT transmission failing, and costing more than the car is worth to fix. We are looking into buying a like new (i.e 2019 ish year) SUV as a replacement, and have taking a liking to the Nissan Kicks. However, this, as well as many other SUV's on the market seem to have CVT's in them, and I'm sceptical if I should buy one again. Have they improved enough since 2007? Thank you

Every company makes them different. Nissan and Dodge are among the worst and haven't improved significantly. Consider the Honda HR-V and Toyota CH-R.

The kicks have not really had any cvt concerns like the other vehicles but used said suv I’m not sure what your needs are but the kicks are only two wheel drive

no do not buy any nissan product except for their trucks, maxima is ok with chain in cvt and pathfinder too but still overall not a good value

honda and toyota make great cvts but still its not as enjoyable drive. Look for a pre 2014 Honda CRV or Rav 4 (make sure its a 2.5 not a 2.4)
