I’m currently looking at 2 vehicles- 2001 ford ranger v6 with 100,000 miles and a 2002 Dodge Durango sport utility 4d with the v8 and 101,000 miles. Both cars have little rust. Ranger is $4,200 and Durango is $5,000. Both cars have aftermarket tires on them. Would love opinions on this. Both vehicles are automatic.
Do you want a truck or an SUV? That's what you need to decide. I have a 1999 Ranger with 271k and the 3.0 V6 runs like a top. The Ranger will probably outlast that Durango. A good bit of those trucks dates to the 1980s and they were updated to be more computerized, rather than scrapping the designs and starting over every 4 years. For both vehicles, the weak point will be the automatic transmission. Have a mechanic check out the one you want.
