Which Powerstroke and which duramax?

Most likely 2011 or newer, we probably won’t start looking for a while given the car prices right now.

They are both good engines until you get hit with a 8 or 10 thousand dollar repair. Until Toyota makes a diesel for the Tundra that is just the way it will be.

@emmitthayes if you’re looking at 11 or newer the 2nd gen 6.7 Powerstroke is far superior to the duramax. GM has fallen behind in my opinion with the duramax line.

@pete Toyota has no intention on putting a diesel in the tundra or expanding their 1/2 ton line, it’s not what they specialize in, why do you think the Tundra has been the same for yrs. And even if they did, the repairs would be just as much or more than the other diesels. Americans dominate the big diesel motor market. I have plenty of friends, family and work trucks the diesels have gone over 900k mi with minimal maintenance overall. Toyota is not the answer to everything.

Ok thank you

Both are decent engines. I think the Ford overall would be the better choice.

Both are good engines but I would choose Ford over GM for the overall quality.

Ok thanks

Both are great but you can’t beat an Isuzu made (GM/ISUZU joint venture) V8 DuraMax.

the same joint venture made (“DMAX”) the 1.7 Diesel engine for the Honda Civic (Cummins sold this engine as a boat engine) and the  3.0L V6 from the Opel Vectra (Aka Opel insignia) and many more exciting reliable diesels. I respect DMAX (GM/ISUZU) for bringing us some of the craziest Diesel engines instead of the typical 110 horsepower 1.6L…
