Hey Scotty. I'm glad we have great honest mechanics like you. I have bought a used 1999 AWD Toyota Rav4 (Automatic) in 2014 on Kijiji.ca at the time. I'm still driving it and has about 370,000 miles on it now and using Amsoil. I'm thinking about moving forward in buying New 2020 Toyota Corolla SE. I noticed the LE has 139HP 1.8L 4 Cylinder Engine & SE has 169HP 2.0L 4 Cylinder Engine. Which Toyota engine is more reliable on the long run & would it be better to get the 2.0L for driving through mountains or hills in general on highway driving because it's more zippy ?
Kijiji is a great place to find a car. I have bought several through Kijiji. For the Corolla I would go with the 1.8. Overall they are both very good engines. However the 2.0 engine is a relatively new engine where the 1.8 is a really old engine, so it has been proven to be bulletproof and it is old technology so less stuff to break. Also, the 2.0 has direct injection where the 1.8 does not.
thank you, I will definitely keep that in my mind when searching for a car.
Proven reliability beats probably reliability.
that makes sense, thanks 🙂
