hey Scotty I recently bought a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 single cab with a V6 the stock gauge cluster does not have a tach in fact it’s one giant fuel gauge in its place would you know of any gauge clusters that have a tach and are compatible I’m not a fan of the tiny aftermarket ones. Thank you sincerely Elijah Butler

You can buy a used stock 1998 Ram instrument cluster that has a tach on ebay.

https://www.ebay.com/b/Instrument-Clusters-for-1998-Dodge-Ram-1500/33675/bn_7105394123?rt=nc&_udlo=35

Also, if you're interested, here's a link to the 2000+ page 1998 Dodge Ram Service manual PDF.

http://spillage.net/Public/98%20Dodge%20Ram%20Truck%20SM.pdf

Would that work for the V6 version with a 35 gallon fuel tank I saw that same ad I just couldn’t get that info if it would work.

Download the service manual I linked. It will tell you if the sender ohm resistance ranges are the same for Full and Empty
I think it's somewhere around 4 ohms, Full. 103 ohms Empty.
But don't quote me on that, check the manual for the exact resistances .
If you don't have one, that service manual has every wiring diagram, repair procedure, and diagnostic test procedure you'll even need to work on that truck. It has the answer to any questions you have about a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500
