I have a ford freestar mini van I'm getting ready to tear the E Brake handle out of it and cut the cable.....will that effect my regular brakes any or will I be ok..thanks
What is the reason you want to do that?
that's a terrible idea. And probably illegal too.
why would you cut out the e-break?
And as far as the question goes, it depends. some cars have a wire actuated separate break caliper for the E break ,
but most don't and then you're risking messing with your regular breaks
Your probably fine, but at the same time it is also highly illegal to delete the emergency brake. Remember, there is a reason why it is there.
I wouldn't do that. Those transmissions are WEAK. I have an '04 myself, and your parking pawl could break and then your car goes rolling down a hill. You'll also hear a very loud and noticable "CLUNK" when shifting from park to drive on a hill. Don't do it.
....Um.....What?
You want to disconnect your emergency brake?
Why, exactly? I mean, in answer to your question it won't affect the regular brakes, but it will affect a lot of other things you may need, such as parking on hills, passing safety inspections, generally not having your van run rough shod all over town when you aren't looking. And, of course, it is illegal.
Other than that though, I guess it would be ok. But....I'm back to the "why" part. {black}:idontknow:
But why though???
Where I live, the vehicle would not pass inspection if you did that. You may not have that issue.
