Hey all I currently have a 2003 bmw 330xi 148k miles standard tranny. I’ve had the car for a year and while i bought it cheap for a grand i spent 2 grand on it the last year doing most of the work myself. The car actually runs great now although i’m having a steering issue that i was able to pin point to the lower ball joint but the whole control arm has to be changed. I don’t want to cheap out on this the oem lemforder brand costs about 500 for both control arms and inner ball joints and bushings. I’m not sure if it’s worth putting this much into it as I am already in the car for about 3k, any input on if I should take care of the control arms or if there are any other good brands that are cheaper. Any i. put would be great
Daily driving that car is going to cost you a fortune.
Here is what I would do: Buy the cheaper parts, immediately sell it, buy a Honda/Toyota.
This is precisely why Scotty calls them endless money pits.
Since it’s just your weekend toy (presumably), I’d put on cheap aftermarket ones.
Don't throw good money after bad, because the car is worth absolutely nothing.
the car is actually my daily hence why i’m leary about putting cheap ones on i don’t think i should let ways with it I already have it so i might as well maintain it
Umm, an 18yr old, high mileage BMW as your daily?! Interesting..
I hope you realise what you’re getting into here. You better be prepared for the endless money pit experience..
