ECO Mode or Normal Mode?

My 2021 Camry SE came with Eco mode. Is Eco mode or Normal mode better for the engine life? The Camry is already a fuel economy friendly car and I only drive 20 miles a day. I know Eco mode makes the engine run at higher RPM and my Camry is still under the break in period as well. Should I keep Eco mode on or off in the future?

You only driving 20 miles a day is putting more strain on the engine then whether it's in eco/normal mode. I'd leave it in normal if you're that worried. Most times the Eco mode impacts the rpm like you mentioned, but also a/c and acceleration.

First of all, congratulations!

That’s your choice, however ECO mode will kill acceleration (and keep revs low).

Since you only drive 20 miles a day, I’d leave it in normal mode & enjoy your engine for what it is.

It really depends on your driving preference. I can see arguments both ways on why either one is better for the engine. Imho, any difference is practically negligible.

I like to use eco mode when I am cruising right chilling and sport/normal when I need a little more acceleration and pep.

I play with eco and normal on the CRV. And also with sport, normal, eco on the RAV4.

I must say, that normal feels normal. Eco feels sluggish (but in some circumstances that is fine). And Sport almost feels like a stick shift without the stick shift.

Choose for your driving style, and change the mode as needed.

eco modes should not increase engine RPM.

If you're flooring it just to make the car achieve the speed you want then perhaps you should switch to normal mode.
