My Mitsubishi Pajero 2006 GLX 3.0 V93W just stopped working. It cranks but doesn't start. Before this the check engine light had been on for couple of days while driving it because my auto mechanic advised that it will go off after a few days. It didn't. When the car was checked, the ECU serial no 1860A617 was burnt. We've tried a couple of ECU's but none worked. My question is if I get an ECU with the same serial number as the one that got burnt, will the car start? If Yes, will I have to program the ECU? If No, how do I get an ECU that works with the car?
Many thanks.
You need to reprogram the ECU.
if I get an ECU with the same serial number as the one that got burnt
serial numbers are, by definition, never the same.
Maybe you mean part number.
Yes, OE number.
will I have to program the ECU
usually, yes
