Will anyone convert their own gasoline vehicle into an electric vehicle in the future if gasoline cars are gone? For me, Time will tell.

NO. I'm not going electric. At least in the U.S., politicians who go too far in forcing this nonsense will likely be tossed out on their ears. They will never be able to get rid of fossil fuels in my lifetime.

Good luck trying to get the blue collar American to make that switch. That would be a situation where the Gov would have to force that. I can’t imagine the price for the conversion kit. It would probably be better just to buy an electric vehicle instead. We’re still very far away from just dropping gasoline or diesel powered motors.

@usafdozerpilot Hey Scotty makes good points lol. Same with you.

Nope.  I love my gas vehicles.

At this rate I'll have to. California is banning new gasoline car sales this decade. Do I want to? No. Even gasoline cars are getting boring and ugly. I'll prefer to keep on buying used cars from 5-10 years ago, gasoline. But hey time will tell. I doubt in 2050 2060, at this rate, there will be a lot of gasoline cars around in the states. Its all political, nothing really behind it. Whether you or I buy an EV or not, we will pay for their nonexistent infastructure with taxes. How great is that.

If you mean a conversion kit literally taking a gas engine -> Electric motor, then no way would I do that on any car worth anything. Scotty is interested in doing it to his Celica though.

@Kerem I hope I can buy a used car if banning new gasoline car sales.

I can keep a car going a very, VERY long time. As @kerem says, yeah by 2050 or 2060 if nothing stops this nonsense it will be fait accompli. However at my age in the unlikely event I'm still around in 2050 I'd be nearly 100 years old and would not be very concerned with driving at that point. :silly: Not many make it that far so it's unlikely I'll be dealing with it at all. 2060 is definitely not on my radar even as a theoretical possibility! That's life...

Do dealers in U.S. charge for renting battery if you buy a new electric car? I noticed that practice in my area. You already overpay a car and then a monthly fee for 'renting' battery.
