Electrics on While Towing?.

Hi Scotty & community,

I've got a rear wheel drive 2006 Lexus IS220D and the manual says if it's being towed with the rear wheels on the ground, you should press the ignition button once for the electrics to come on while being towed.

Is there a reason for this? And do I have to do it if I'm pushing it around my driveway?.

Thanks.

Forgot to mention it's a manual transmission. {black}:sweaty:

You need to read the 2nd bullet in the Notice box just below the 3 steps in the emergency towing procedure I believe it's listed on page 319.

Thanks, did you mean pg319 of the Lexus manual? As it mentions keeping the eleectics on as the steering wheel lock isn't strong enough to keep the wheels locked if towed from the rear with the front wheel on the ground.
