Hi Scotty Hi everyone.

I bought a used 2017 Sienna a year ago. Today I want to fill the coolant since it getting closer to the Low line. I bought it used, I’m not 100% sure what kind the old coolant in the engine is. I don’t want to take it to dealerships, I’m afraid that they will tell me I need to change the whole cooling system. What can I do? Please.

Thank you!

Check the user manual for the type, most likely you can use the HOAT type but check the user manual.

Thank you, Yaser. I appreciate it.

Your owner's manual states to use any 50/50 HOAT (hybrid organic acid technology) coolant. Of course they say to use Toyota but any brand will do.

Thank you Doc

If you don't live in a place where temperatures drop well below freezing, you can add distilled water. Most engines can have 50% coolant 50% water or 30% coolant 70% water. It will not damage the engine as long as it is distilled water.

Thank you seandillon.

Most of the time, modern Toyota will use Asian red/pink coolant. Check the manual to verify.
