Engine knock at idle

Topic starter

Last week my car started making a light knocking sound when idling, and I got worried because I had to attend a business event the same day. It made me realize how important it is to keep vehicles well-maintained. In professional transport services like Seattle Black Limo, I believe regular checks must be a priority to avoid such stress. Has anyone faced this issue before? What simple things should I check first before visiting a mechanic?

Welcome new member! A few issues with your topic:

1. You posted this not as a new topic of your own, but instead "hijacked" someone else's 3-year-old post. (This has now been split into its own topic.)

2. You accidentally posted your inquiry 5 times. If you do not have a stable network connection please wait until that issue is dealt with. Also, please do not click on the submit button more than once. You will find that in most cases your post is processed immediately, which you can confirm by checking the main page.

3. You provided absolutely no details about your vehicle, giving us nothing to go on. Please provide the vehicle information as requested in the posting instructions.

Additionally, when adding the needed information please post it as a response to your original topic, not as a new topic. You may want to review the forum rules posted near the top of the main page.

Thank you.

An engine "knock" can be a number of things, some serious and some not. Please provide vehicle information as requested. If possible record a video demonstrating the noise, upload to youtube, and provide a link here.
