Hi Scotty! I’m a huge fan and appreciate all of your knowledge…

I have a 2008 Toyota Sequoia sr5 5.7l v8.
I notice my battery was corroded and seemed like the power and acceleration wasnt quite what it once was. I cleaned the terminals the other day. After I hooked it back up it started, but rpm’s dropped, it spudders, dies when in drive, ac won’t work etc. I’ve checked the connections and everything is secure. I drove it to Oreillys and had to give gas without stopping so it wouldn’t die on me. Guy says battery is at 12.77 and test good the engine was struggling to stay on to get a good alternator reading and but he saaif it was at 11.33 Amps. It starts loud and then immediately drops in sound. It runs but can’t tell. It doesn’t have the roar it usually does being a 5.7 v8.

I noticed the sound difference in how it ran right off the bat. Could it be a bad alternator?

thank you,

Huck V.

Could it be a bad alternator?

Yes. The battery cranks the car but the alternator provides the power to all the various components and 11.33 amps is too low.
