Hello,
I have Toyota Auris petrol 1.33 dual VVTI engine. I use 0W20 oil and always go for Shell, Mobil this time I bought Total 0W20 Ineo First Full synthetic designed for particulate filter. My car does not have such filter. Question is can this oil damage my car.
Lot's of discussions here on the topic, but you should not be jumping from brand to brand with your engine oil. Pick one your car does well with and stick with it.
Will it hurt anything? No.
Should you switch back and use the oil you've been using next time? Yes.
The reason is each oil has it's own additives and if you introduce rubber, which are what your seals and gaskets are made out of, to too many different additives they may start to deteriorate.
But it must be made clear that a single oil change WILL NOT cause those issues. Only frequently changing oil brands will do that.
So go ahead and run the life of the oil you have out, then switch back. No damage done.
It's a good oil. Won't hurt a thing.
Probably best to switch back next time.
The other oils are more in spec with your car.
Thank you all
