Hello Guys!
its coming around to the time that i need to change my oil and i was curious on what oil i should use for my engine as well as filter.
my car is a 2014 Honda cr-v with a k24z6 that currently has 86k miles that uses 0w20 and currently have Valvoline full synthetic High Mileage with MaxLife 0w20 oil and a stp extended life s7317xl oil filter. i know the oil is ok but i wanted to see if Pennzoil might not be a bad idea
I wanted to try Pennzoil ultra platinum or maybe their high mileage formula since its made from natural gas and supposed to be cleaner and i would assume it should help with the timing chain tensioner problems on this revision engine. is it snakes oil rather than engine oil or is there really a difference?
also talking about the oil filter any good filters that you guys know of for my specific engine?
thanks a bunch!
what oil i should use
any oil that meets the specifications in your owner's manual
any good filters that you guys know of for my specific engine?
your engine doesn't have any specific filtration needs. Use any good quality filter: Wix, Purolator, OEM, Fram (the fancy ones, not the cheapest)
People make too much of a fuss over what to buy. Just do it regularly and on time, every 5k.
thanks for the help ill keep that in mind
I usually go with whatever name brand is on sale as long as it meets the specs I need.
Use whatever brand you like, so long as you keep to the recommended specs. I use Mobil 1, but that's my choice. At this point, they are all just about as good as the next.
I personally use Kirkland Signature synthetic oil because of its good price compared to other brands (it's made by Warren Distribution) for my newer Toyota and I get the OEM oil filter from the dealership when they have it on sale for buying 3 or more. And so far this has worked well for me.
