Hi Scotty,

My VW Golf burns oil. It barely passed the emissions test at high revs. Is there an engine oil I can use that might help reduce emissions? I currently use 5W 30 Fully Synthetic Oil. Is there anything else I can do to help it pass the emissions test?

Yes, I would start by viewing Scotty's video below:

If you take the test and fail you will be at the mercy of the state, so I would also suggest the following (if possible):

Once you've prepped the vehicle, I would take it to a shop of your choosing and do a pre-official emissions test to see where you are at.

That way if it fails, you can possibly make some additional changes in order to pass the real test.
