Engine oil spill in engine bay

Hey Scotty,  I dropped a bit of engine oil when refilling it and it looks like it went on the axle axle boots.

Is it ok to leave as is?  If not how can I clean it?

Please see the picture attached.  Thanks

The issue here is oil destroys a lot of plastics/rubber/paint stuff.  Wipe up as folks have said and wash with Dawn dish soap and water until it's not oily anymore... and while car/engine cold ;  )

I would just wipe up what you can and it should be fine.

I'd say just wipe it up, maybe with a damp rag and that should be fine.  I wouldn't let it get baked or dried on the boots.  And I wouldn't try to use any harsh chemicals to clean it.  Just use some water on a damp towel.

Get some kitty litter and put a good layer of it over where the oil was and leave it overnight to soak it up, then dust the area with some concrete dust to finish it off!

Not a problem, once dropped alot of oil on the side the bottle even went GLUP! GLUP! GLUP! it smoked for quite some time but I never had any damages because of it. Just take the time to clean up.

Use brake cleaner spray.

It's a degreaser but it evaporates.

@rallyfoz
Brake cleaner is very hard on anything rubber or paint. I would not use brake cleaner.
