Engine Oil Weight as a car ages in miles

I have a 1997 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am with approx. 104000 miles with 6 speed stick.  Is it wise to say that when you reach "high mileage", you go up a weight?  Mine take 5w30, so do I go 10w30?  Or use a stabilizer with 5w30?  Is this a thing for older cars or for across the board?

If it runs fine, then keep using 5w30

why the downvote?

I accidently hit upvote. My Apologies. Where do you think people get this idea to upgrade oil weight when at high mileage?

if it's leaking or burning oil
