- Hey Scotty - I have a 2002 Buick Park Avenue Ultra. It has the 3.8 engine with a supercharger. I run premium gas in it but it clatters just as bad as when I use regular gas. I had a 1999 Park Avenue basic (without the supercharger) and it did the same thing. Is the timing off? The dealers tells me there's nothing wrong. I haven't had another mechanic look at so I don't know if it's throwing a code or not. This is only issue we've had with the Park Avenue. It gets 30 mpg on the open road (I've verified it using straight old style math). Anyway, do you think?

Well it shouldn't ping odds. Are you need a new timing chain? The timing is probably off cuz the engine's worn

or maybe it's not pinging but something else. Do you get any knock diagnostic codes?
