Thank you to all for your helpful responses to my questions. I'm sorry this is such a long question, but I couldn't make it any shorter. Regarding my 2017 Hyundai Elantra 2.0 L MPI, the engine has a loud ticking noise that is loudest after cold engine start-up. It does quiet down some after the engine has been running for about 5 to 10 minutes but still louder than I think it should be (based on 50 years as a DIY mechanic). It is definitely not a pinging or knocking sound. It sounds louder than normal valve train noise. I used my stethoscope and it does sound like the noise is coming from the injectors rather than the valve train. The colder the ambient temperature (late Fall to early Spring) the louder the noise after cold start-up and even after it's warmed up. I purchased it at 35,000 miles after I had 2 mechanics check it out and both said it is normal injector noise for that engine (G4NH) which doesn't make sense to me because it has multi port injection rather than direct injection, (GDI injectors are louder than MPI injectors right????? ). It has 47,000 miles on it now, and still sounds like it did at 35,000 miles. I change the oil every 3,000 miles using Mobil 1 full synthetic oil and a Mobil 1 oil filter (which is the same combination as I have used on every other vehicle I've owned) however, one time I used the Hyundai oil filter but the ticking sound was the same. Any thoughts ?
Using my stethoscope, it's definitely coming from the injectors.
injectors are supposed to tick
One question per topic, please. I've split it off for you.
Please read the rules on the front page. Thanks.
I know they are supposed to tick but are they supposed to tick significantly louder than a Honda or Toyota with MPI ?
I've been told by several mechanics that it has noisy injectors and it's normal for that engine
are there any performance or drive-ability symptoms or trouble lights?
If not then I'd live with the ticking.
It is a Hyundai after all. I'd be thrilled that the engine didn't grenade, burn through gallons of oil, or set my house on fire.
Thank you MountainManJoe
What do you mean you split it off for me?

you posted this question at the end of your previous one, instead of making a new topic for it.
I have a 2017 Elantra with the Nu MPi 2.0L Atkinson cycle G4NH engine and AT. Got it at 34K almost 3 years ago and have 43K on it now. I change the oil and filter every 4,000 and it still doesn't burn a drop. I had to replace 1 ignition coil and that's it regarding repairs. It gets 43 mpg on the highway. It does have 1 quirk. It's had a rather loud ticking or clicking noise in the valve cover area since I bought it. The colder the ambient temp, the louder it is. The noise quiets down some as the engine warms up but still sounds excessively loud. I've been told by several mechanics that it has noisy injectors and it's normal for that engine and it's not valve train noise. Using my stethoscope, it's definitely coming from the injectors.
Does anyone know if this loud ticking or clicking noise is normal for that engine ?
