i was told by a blacksmith turned mechanic.. a very old man ….thst 90% of all engine wear happens in the first five minutes of operation. he said let your car run a minute or two before taking off . true or false

Personally, I watch my oil pressure gauge and wait for it to come up to normal (30 seconds or so). Usually I need a few minutes to arrange things in the car, buckle, plug in the phone etc anyway.
Then I drive gently until engine reaches operating temperature.
