Engine whinning noise

Hey Scotty,

I bought used 2013 Toyota RAV4 AWD with 105,000kms in Melbourne, Australia from dealer with proper service history.

I did notice the whinning noise when I test drive.

I got it serviced once I bought it. changed all fluids and running without issues. My mechanic says not to worry about this noise and it's common and can get it serviced when the noise is severe or at 150,000kms.

Should I worry and change alternator, pulley and water pump? Or wait for while?

Thanks.

Well where did the mechanic say the whinning noise was coming from? Clearly they should know if they told you it's nothing to worry about. Not to be mean or anything, but why did you buy the car anyways when you heard it whinning during the test drive? I would have walked away from it because you don't know what it could've been. It could be the timing chain whinning, and that's a big issue.
