Hi scotty,
My wife's 2012 Hyundai Sonata(automatic) had a sudden lose of power while cruising around 100 kmph. It was having 180000 kms mileage on it when this happened.
It EPS light turned on before we pulled it over. We couldnt start the car as it failed to crank again. The mechanic told its engine is blown out after inspecting using his tool. We had to sell the vehicle for scrap as we were moving from manitoba to ontario, Canada.
After a week now, I find it hard to believe an EPS lamp coming on can cause engine issues. Do you think this is possible to have engine issues for EPS lamp turning on ?
The EPS system was probably a symptom, not a cause.
100,000 miles (~160,000kms) is when the typical Hyundai/Kia product falls apart.
Did the mechanic tell you the detailed results of the diagnosis?
No, all he told was this is an engine failure and they wont repair unless I manage to get a similar engine.
You’re lucky to get >100,000 miles out of the vehicle. Did you hear any strange noises just before it lost power?
You already got rid of the car. Correct?
Yes, we were moving and we had to sell it for scrap as we didn't have any place to store the car near by.
For your next car, consider Toyota or Honda,
