i have a 2002 VW beetle and it won't shift out of first gear....I got both po730 and po722 codes at the same time...one is for the output speed sensor and the other one is for incorrect gear ratio....so my question is..could the reason the transmission isn't shifting because of the speed sensor or is the transmission possibly shot? Car has 238,000 miles...do I replace the sensor and it will be fine or do I have it flattened at the local junkyard???
P0722 could possibly be an issue with the output speed sensor or the wiring for the sensor. The only way to know is to check with a scan tool to see if the transmission speed sensors are sending good signals.
