ES300 Knock Sensor

Scotty, love the channel. Keep up the good work. My wife's 2003 ES300 has been getting knock sensor codes from the CEL. The car has 247K miles on it, but runs well when the ECU doesn't put it in limp mode, due to the knock sensor codes. She only drives it 6-7 miles per day, so I didn't want to tear the whole engine apart to change the sensors out. I simply replaced the wire harness, plugged it in where the old one went (right under the breather on side of engine), and replaced the knock sensors. I ground the sensors, and everything is working fine. For now, I just have them sitting on top of the breather. My question is, do I need to mount them permanently somewhere? There is no knock at all with the engine, and I will continue to put high octane gas in it to try and keep it that way. Thanks in advance for your help.

Well lots of guys do that. You could mount them wherever you want if you want or if it works okay. Just leave them alone. Maybe put them with a zip tie somewhere so they don't rattle around

Thanks, Scotty.
