Hello Scotty, I'm looking a purchasing either a 2016 Infiniti QX60 AWD with 106,000 km or a 2015 Mazda CX-9, AWD with 135,000 km. Both can be purchased for $20,000 CAD which is normal for the market up here in Canada where I'm from. I'm aware of the Infiniti's CTV transmission and how you have to stay on top of them and change the oil every 50,000 kms but it being newer and has fewer kms, what would u say would be a better purchase for a growing family and all around peace of mind. P.s. I'm a Heavy Duty Mechanic and capable of doing most repairs myself but would prefer to not have to do any. 😆. Both are private sales.
So does the 2015 CX-9 have the same engine as the 2104 CX-5 2.5L?
No, it has the Ford 3.7 V6 with the time-bomb internal water pump.
Alright. Thank u so much for ur input.
You already know about the potential CVT problems with the Infiniti.
The Mazda was one of the last collaboration with Ford. For markers the same engine as a Duratec engine.
Sadly, the biggest problem with the Mazda/Ford engine is possible catastrophic engine failure caused by a failed water pump. the engine was initially built for longitudinal orientation, but was modified for transverse orientation by relocating the water pump. And that location proved catastrophic for the engine when it failed.
So does the 2015 CX-9 have the same engine as the 2104 CX-5 2.5L? The reason I'm asking is because Our current vehicle is the latter, and 3 years and 80,000 km later, I cannot give more praise to that vehicle as far as reliability.
